"Lifecourse Perspectives on Spirituality & Health in Diverse Religious Communities"

This call for papers is seeking oral and poster presentation submissions for the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Spirituality, Theology, and Health hosted by the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health at Duke

Submissions are encouraged for oral and poster presentations related to the theme of the conference. Presentations should focus on specific religious communities or traditions.

Categories for these presentations are: 

  • Theological Considerations
  • Family & Community Health
  • Intergenerational Health & Spirituality
  • Spiritual Assessment across Religious Communities
  • Practices & Beliefs
  • Other  (You will need to explain how your topic relates to the theme.)

 

Graduate Students

Graduate students in relevant disciplines are encouraged to submit applications for both paper and poster presentations. Opportunities for student presentations will be provided in accordance with the quality and number of submissions. 

Submission Format

All abstracts, accompanied by applications, for papers and posters should be submitted electronically as downloadable attachments, in Microsoft Word format to Kari Lauderback ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) by January 15, 2009. Authors will be notified of acceptance by February 20, 2009. Submissions not accepted as oral presentations will be considered automatically for poster presentations. 

If applicable, accepted paper presenters must submit Power Point presentations or other audiovisual presentation materials for their papers two weeks prior to the conference date, so that they may be uploaded to audiovisual equipment prior to the meeting. Presenters will be expected to bring appropriate handouts. Presentations should be 15-20 minutes in length, and there will be 5-10 minutes for questions and answers (25 minutes total).

Submission of an abstract indicates that the individual listed as the presenting author will complete the registration including fee, attend the meeting, and present if the abstract is accepted.
